Sandstone

Characteristics of Sandstone: Sandstone is a sedimentary rock consisting of sheets of sand, mineral particles, and binding matrix deposited one atop in water environments and desert formations. Very porous and water will penetrate it easily. Brown, red, purple, and pink sandstones are commonly called brownstone.

Structural properties of sandstone: Sandstone is a highly porous natural stone. It has 95.00 N/mm2 compressive strength. It has 2.6 toughness and 2.2 to 2.8 specific gravity. Its specific heat capacity is 0.92 kJ/Kg K, and it is heat, impact, and pressure resistant.

The applications of sandstone: As a landscaping and building stone, sandstone is full of character. It is durable and comes in various warm earthy tones, making it an excellent choice for retaining walls with a natural and warm feel.  Outdoors, this type of natural stones is also used for cladding facades and interior walls. It is used in the building of homes and outdoor structures and furniture, such as gates, outdoor ovens, fireplaces, garden benches, garden benches, swimming pool edges, patios or porches, retaining walls and walkways.

Sandstones are known for their durability and can resist all types of temperatures. Sandstone absorbs somewhat more water than limestone, both of these are highly water-resistant, so you shouldn’t be concerned about rain except for the aesthetic difference when applying sandstone for pavement.

Popular Sandstone Finishes:

The possible finishes for sandstone are tumbled, polished, leathered, bush hammered, sandblasted, and honed. Regardless of their surface roughness, all stone tiles should be treated with the appropriate sealer to extend their lifespan, durability, and make maintenance easier.
